What is the value of experience?

Sometimes I wonder what is the value of experience. On a personal level, I think we find our own experiences mean something. What we have lived through in the past may guide in the present and prevent us from taking a similar path to the one we have taken before. After all, the definition of insanity is to do the same thing every time expecting different results. So, if we cannot plead insanity, we use experience to change our response or our course of action when we see a pattern that is familiar.

Still, I wonder–is there any value in sharing our experience? Can it be so powerfully communicated to another person that it will change the way that person walks in her life? I do not know the answer–maybe it will become more obvious as I age a little longer. What do you think? Would love to get the conversation going!

Take stock of your health

How do you feel? Pretty good? Great! So, now is the time to make sure you  have a check up!  Just as you should take stock of your finances and of your life, you should take stock of your health.  After all, when we are not healthy, it is hard to live joyfully and give the best of ourselves to life.

Getting a fasting blood test  is not my idea of fun–and a regular OBYGym exam is even less exciting (do I even dare mention a yearly mammogram?), I am going to set the good example.  I took my appointment a few months back.  What are you waiting for?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure–so this morning make those appointments you have been postponing! And once you are done, give yourself a pat on the back, and treat yourself to something healthy.  How about a walk? A run? A swim.  You tell me…share your thoughts on ways to take care of yourself! And remember, what you don’t know can hurt you!

How to get to the right decision? That is the question.

Life is too short not to make decisions with the heart.  Still, sometimes our mind and our feelings cloud our perception of what it is to follow our heart.  And there are times when our heart seems to be silent.

Take, for example, the simple task of losing weight.  There is no question that by the standards of the BMI charts, my body frame needs less weight on it that it has.  When I frame things that way, I need to lose weight.  My mind is clear–there are rational parameters that say I must lose weight.  My feelings, however, are mixed.  I used to be really really thin and fit the strange canons of beauty that magazines seem to promote.  Problem is–I was constantly sick and I had no energy.  So my feelings are mixed on the issue of losing weight.  And now to the heart.  I am simply unable to listen to what it is saying…there is lots of chatter in my brain, so much so that I can’t easily follow my heart.

Has that ever happened to you? If it has, a coach can be the right person to help you discern what your head and your heart are saying….

Life is Amazing! Live Well.
